Pilot Credit 14: Walkable streets: The intention of this pilot credit is to encourage design for safe and convenient environment for pedestrians and bicyclist within and around project site and to reduce use of cars, motorbikes and other pollution making vehicles. This credit not only emphasises on walkways ,bicycle tracks within project boundary but also outside project boundary which enables the users to access main roads, public parking facilities without facing hurdles. A well designed project plan with sufficient walkways, bicycle tracks, number of doors along the façade, tree plantation is the key requirement to earn this credit. Various queries are being raised regarding this credit which requires more clarification such as Building height (BH) and side width (SW) ratio calculations, façade opening types (doors/windows), tree’s crown diameter calculations, definition of historical buildings etc.
