Sustainable Sites
LEED information about Sustainable Sites
LEED’s sustainability site solution encourages developers to produce less pollution on their selected sites by controlling soil erosion, waterway sedimentation, and airborne dust. This chapter discusses six different ways to enable developers to create less pollution. This includes having an adequate site assessment, protecting and working around natural habitats to promote biodiversity, and maximizing open space, which supports interaction with the environment, reducing runoff and minimizing the effects of heat islands.
